The slide was broad-based, with adult-use sales of $80.1M and medical sales of $10.1M both contributing to the pullback.
Illinois remained the largest market among those reporting, even as its August 2026 total slipped to $271.3M from $278.7M in July. Michigan followed with $259.1M in August, down from $270.9M, while Massachusetts logged $156.6M in August versus $161.5M in July.

Bright spots in the Northeast
Vermont was the standout gainer, with July 2026 sales rising to $14.7M from $13.1M in June — a roughly 12% increase. Maine also edged higher, posting $43.4M in July versus $42.4M in June, with medical sales of $20.3M nearly matching adult-use sales of $23.2M.
California and Canada
California's quarterly filing showed $1,013.2M in sales for the quarter starting April 1, 2026, underscoring the state's continued scale relative to monthly reporters. In Canada, July 2026 sales came in at CA$503.2M, down from CA$516.4M in June.
What to watch
Oregon's latest filing showed September 2026 sales of just $2.5M, a steep drop from $77.6M in August. Given that states file on a lag and early submissions can understate totals, this figure likely reflects an incomplete report rather than an actual market collapse — a number to revisit as Oregon's filing is updated.
Elsewhere, pricing and volume data continue to offer texture on demand: Massachusetts' average price per gram stood at $3.87 as of June 2026, while Connecticut recorded 880,793 products sold in August 2026.
